Absent-mindedness
When I was eleven years old, we adopted a cute
kitten. He looked hungry, so I fed him a saucer of milk, put the milk back in
the fridge, and went on my way -- apparently all while most of my brain was
doing something much more important, like... well, it's hard to imagine what I
was thinking about. I was a busy
kid.
Anyway, about fifteen minutes
later, I wandered through the kitchen and noticed the carton of milk sitting on
the table, along with the saucer of milk, untouched. "That's odd," I thought,
and went to put it back in the refrigerator. "Mew!" cried a very confused and
chilled kitten, staring at me from the top
rack.
Oops! No harm done; kittens are
very forgiving.
