Big Winners

Here's a list of my biggest winning stocks, of the ones I'm still holding.

Their successes are going to look bigger than they really are -- with a lot of these, I sold off the vast majority of my shares as they were going up.

Apple Computer (AAPL): +1418% (didn't really make much money on this -- I sold before the iPod era, except for four shares. Oops.)
Central European Distributing (CEDC): +829% (I sold half every time it doubled -- the last time when it was quite a bit higher than it is now.)
Marvel (MVL): +360% (I made very good money on this, but sold most shares well before the biggest gains in 2003.)
International Assets (IAAC): +304% (This is the only significant holding on this list I still hold -- and I sold off a portion a week ago at $20. It's now $26. I'll sell more at $30, though I still like the stock.)
Pep Boys (PBY): +188% (I didn't make any money on this -- I bought as it went down, down, down, and down, and then sold when it went back up enough to break even. Shoulda held out longer.)

My biggest loser is 3Com (COMS), down 84%. But it wasn't a loser at all -- I bought 171 shares at $28 back in 1997, then sold 170 of them in 1998 at $51. I still have that one share -- valued at $4.
