Bought Intuitive Surgical, Peerless Systems

I bought Peerless Systems (PRLS ), which makes printer guts. They've gotten absolutely hammered over the past year, though they still seem to be making good money.

I also bought Intuitive Surgical (ISRG ), which makes a surgical robot system. They're way overpriced, and not normally the kind of stock I go for. (I tend toward kind of boring, predictable companies.) These guys are probably worth about $75 a share, and it's selling at $110.

I also shorted Regal Entertainment (RGC), because I think movies are going to be in decline for decades.

In general, my stocks have bounced back from their lows a couple of months ago. I am no more optimistic about the economy, though, and I wish I had a brilliant place to put my money where I could be sure it won't turn to worthless paper. I don't think America could withstand a real estate collapse as easily as Japan has. I'm glad I have no debt.
