What's the Difference with Clan Lord?

I'm playing with the CL web pages, and I'm coming up with a list of things that are different between Clan Lord and other MMOs. I think Ultima Online was pretty much the first in late 1997, and Clan Lord was released something like late 1998. Back then we had to explain to everybody what an MMO was, and why paying monthly fees wasn't stupid.

Now there are lots of games to choose from, and Clan Lord, frankly, looks dated. We had no choice but sprite-based ten years ago, and the new 3D model games often look much prettier. There are lots of things that are unique about Clan Lord -- some good, some bad -- and I figure it's a good idea to tell people what they are, so they can decide whether it's the game for them.

Yes, marketing weasels mock me.

I'm kind of brainstorming here, before making some web pages, so I'm looking for other suggestions or comments -- but forgive the writing and formatting up to a point.

Clan Lord has one big world, not a bunch of copies. On the plus side, that means you'll always be on the same server as every other CL players -- you won't build a character only to find that your friends are on a different server. On the minus side, there are no new worlds for everybody to start over at the same time on. Since all countries share a single server, at different times of day you might find the average language varies with time zone convenience.

Clan Lord has tiny characters. They don't have much detail, and they look kind of cartoony. But it's nice that you can see lots of characters at once -- since they're little, lots of folks (and monsters) fit on the screen. And downloading updates (and the game itself) -- and launching the game -- is much faster than some bloated MMOs. There's little I hate worse in a game than, "Loading, please wait." And that never happens in Clan Lord.

Clan Lord is small. There are fewer than a thousand regular players. Sometimes it might feel lonely. On the other hand, since there are so few players, those who play actually get to know each other pretty well. Clan Lord has a greater sense of community than any game I've seen, and the small-town aspect has something to do with that.

Name a few more! I'll add tomorrow.
