The Matrix Online is Evil
Remember a few months back, I signed up for the
free trial of The Matrix Online? I mocked it as a soulless travesty, and
immediately canceled the account. It took nowhere near a month to determine
that this game had nothing to teach
me.
So far so
good.
But a couple of weeks later,
Warner Bros. sold the rights to their incompetent game to Sony -- and Sony
seemingly just reactivated all canceled accounts. (At least, they seem to have
reactivated mine.) It took me several months to notice the repeating $15 charge
on my card. Jerks.
So I went online to
cancel it. Fortunately, I kept a record of my account name and password, even
though you'd have to pay me to look at their dumb game again. So I logged on to
cancel. Alas, you can't cancel from Warner Bros.' account -- you have to create
a new one for Sony. And you can't do that without the serial number printed on
the disc -- and I never got a disc.
So
I tried the phone number associated with the credit card charge. After about 10
minutes long distance fighting my way through a series of voice menus, I found
that they don't actually have people there except 9-5 Monday through
Friday.
Jerks.
