Dems Take Congress
I like it when the legislative branch is
controlled by one party and the executive branch by another. It forces them to
actually talk, and compromise, and think -- things that have been woefully
missing during the past four years.
I'm a fiscal conservative (small government, free
trade, balanced budget) and a social progressive (birth control, public
education, secular government). Bush Sr. was OK by me, as was Clinton. Bush
Jr. annoyed me only mildly until he started talking about invading Iraq for no
good reason.
I'm not all that interested in dragging Bush through
the mud for past misdeeds. I just want us to climb out of the puddle he's
dragged us into. Will the Democrats help with that? All politicians suck, but
they can't do worse than the Republicans did, can they?
