Bush Picture

I notice that my "politics" entries use a picture of GWB as a little devil. This seemed appropriate before election time, when I was campaigning against him. However, most of my thoughts about public policy are entirely unrelated to Bush. And I never did think he, or his worst cronies, are "evil." They are doing their best to make the world better. I happen to have a different opinion of how best to do that. My opinion is backed by the scientific method (that is, by questioning hypotheses, looking and weighing multiple sources), while his seems to be by closing his eyes to anything that might threaten his preconceived notions of how the world works.

When someone is so certain that they are right that they are willing to use any means to achieve their objective, it can lead to horrific results. In particular, our administration was so certain that it was a good idea to invade Iraq that they ignored all evidence that they did not pose a threat to us, or even to their neighbors.

I am confident that they honestly believed they would find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. If they thought they might not, they would have been sure to plant some.
