Game Developers Conference
I went to the GDC yesterday, mostly to schmooze
with some old friends.I thought that
the Apple World-Wide Developers Conference had a lot of nerds and no women, but
I was wrong. There are an order of magnitude more women at the WWDC than at the
GDC.Some of my students from Hong Kong
were there showing off a game I supervised, and it was fun to see them again.
Seeing them inspired a sudden craving for char siu fan and hung dao bing.
(That's barbecued pork over rice with ginger paste, egg, and greens, and an icy
beverage made with sweet milk and red beans.)
Mmmmm.We took all the hong kong kids
out for American deli food. They've had a wide variety of food, but they've
never had a reuben, or even a proper hot
dog.The coolest thing at the GDC, by
most accounts, was Will Wright's upcoming Spore .
