  • A certain book whose pages were inexplicably glued shut has been pried open.
  • Delta Tao has discontinued development of the 68k version of Clan Lord. If you've been running the 68k or fat version, first try upgrading to the PPC or OSX version from the Mac client download page, or if you're running in an emulator, try the native Windows client instead. If you're really still running Clan Lord on a 68K Mac, a computer more than 11 years old, Delta Tao has offered to purchase a G3 iMac for you, free of charge, so you can keep playing. See Joe's blog for more information.

You can't change your name if you wouldn't be able to delete the character, nor if you wouldn't be able to start again at Resetus. There is a fee of $9.95 for each character's name changed, becuase Ann or Joe has to do it by hand. Email Joe to arrange a name change.

Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, "A Psalm of Life"

  • Progress is proceeding apace on a new area or two. A surprisingly fast pace, in fact, although there's a lot to be done.

4/26/06 v439
What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us. - Oliver Wendell Holmes

  • Wumpa Gourds don't rot as fast now.
  • Due to a glitch in the update, anyone who tried to auto-update the Windows client during the first few minutes of v439 will need to download the full v439 Windows client again. The images and sounds should all be fine; only the client update was bad. We apologize for the inconvenience.

4/12/06 v437
But, soft! what light through yonder window breaks? - William Shakespeare, "Romeo and Juliet" II:1

  • We are pleased to announce the general availability of a native Windows client! Provided by the folks at Arindal, it has been working very well in testing and is now available to anyone. You can now download the v437 client for Windows, which should update automatically from then on just like the Mac clients do.
  • One note: Since the Windows client is provided by Arindal, we can't guarantee 100% that the new version will always be available exactly on the day of an update. They know when our updates are, and we all do our best to get everything in place in time, but since it's outside our direct control we can't make a rock-solid promise. We appreciate your understanding.
  • Please read the Windows client support FAQ for troubleshooting information before reporting a problem. We'll do our best to help with Windows client troubles, but again, since we didn't develop it, we're not experts in it.
  • Earth Wyrms have been tweaked a bit more.
  • Lots of work on new areas proceeding behind the scenes.

  • There's a big new area in the works! It's a ways away, but it's progressing well.
  • New rugs?
  • The "area nobody's reached yet" in the v428 news has always been reachable, and isn't on Puddleby island. Sorry if anyone was misled.

2/7/06 v428 - Aardvarks? (Okay, this one's pretty obscure.)

  • We fixed some problems with poison in v426, but it appears that at least one remains. We're still looking for it. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
  • Likewise the bug that lets boosts stick to people wearing armor. Why can't these things be easier to track down?
  • We've put in a few measures to discourage "karma-bombing". We're keeping an eye on the situation and may change the details of this feature, or add more preventive measures, if that seems necessary.
  • Some improvements to an area nobody's reached yet. You'll appreciate it when you get there.

1/23/06 v426 - Perchance to Dream

  • We apologize for the problems with poison and webs during v424. We believe they've all been fixed now, but we'll continue keeping an eye on things to be sure.

1/11/06 v424 - Busy Bees

  • The Chaos Storm schedule will be changing to Tuesdays instead of Wednesdays starting with v426.
  • Red healing salves are still being adjusted. Don't get too attached to (or upset by) their current form.
  • We love our GMs, but they aren't always very good about sending in their change lists...
